DIY SOS - Home for Veterans Special

Speedier Scaffolding supplied scaffolding to veterans as part of the BBC One special programme 'DIY SOS: Homes for Veterans'.

The show adapted homes for disabled and traumatised veterans. The project left an ongoing legacy for future adapted housing. The team created a walk-in advice education centre that will benefit the new community well into the future.

The project involved 62 homes in Canada Street and New Street in Manchester - 22 of which were empty. 7 derelict houses were completely renovated and reconfigured into 3 new homes. Wounded ex-military personel will benefit from the new training centre.

Speedier Scaffolding supplied personnel and material for the project. This amounted to over 1100 hours of labour, and a cost of more than £20,000.

This year, a team from Stockport Homes completed the Great Manchester 10K Run, and raised a fantastic £6,000 for Millie's Trust. Millie's Trust is based in Stockport, and offers free or subsidised first aid training for anyone who looks after small children.

Helen McHale, Stockport Homes' Chief Executive, thanked Speedier Scaffolding:

On behalf of Stockport Home I would like to thank you so kindly for sponsoring our running team at this year's Great Manchester 10K Run. So far we have raised over £6,000 for Millie's Trust.

On one of the hottest days of the year, our team of 30 did extremely well and braved the scorching weather to make it past the finish line! Believe it or not, even though it took me 1hr 17 I did actually run all the way!

Thanks you for your continuing support of Stockport Homes and its Charity of the Year.
We would like to congratulate Helen and the rest of the running team for their great effort.
